All students must complete the professional education, methodology-field experience, clinical practice, and state-specific requirement blocks in addition to their content area requirements for licensure. Fingerprint clearance and passing of the appropriate National Evaluation Series (NES) are also required for licensure.

Ottawa University and Mesa Community College have created a partnership
to offer a Bachelor of Arts in Music. The degree will prepare its
graduate to teach music at the secondary level, as the program is
written to meet Arizona teacher certification requirements at the
secondary level (grades 7-12).

6 semester credit hours in music theory
7 semesters of private lessons and ensemble work
