Undergraduate Programs
The requirements for an Ottawa University Bachelor’s degree are designed to promote a lifelong pursuit of a liberal education. To earn an undergraduate degree, students must complete requirements in three primary areas: major, core, and electives. Electives may be fulfilled through elective courses, minor(s) and/or a second major. These three primary components of an undergraduate degree support student achievement in the following learning outcomes:
-
COMMUNICATION: Students will effectively communicate with multiple audiences through the delivery of clear, consistent, and reasoned written works, oral presentations, and/or creative works.
-
CRITICAL THINKING: Students will construct and analyze arguments and claims across fields, with the ability to evaluate and synthesize information from multiple sources.
-
PROBLEM SOLVING: Students will employ their knowledge across fields, incorporating critical and creative thinking to work across differences to solve problems.
In addition to assessment strategies that are program-specific, each major requires students to complete a senior comprehensive, a capstone course or portfolio as a measure of student academic achievement of these three University-wide learning outcomes.
To complete an undergraduate degree, students must fulfill all Undergraduate Graduation Requirements.
