Adult Professional and Graduate Studies
Withdrawal Policy
Students who wish to withdraw from the University must submit the formal request in writing to the Academic Advisor. The withdrawal request must contain the reason and official date of withdrawal for official processing through the Registrar’s Office.
Students must maintain active student status to avoid administrative withdrawal. Active student status requires completion of no less than three credit hours within two consecutive semesters. International students are expected to maintain standards per their U.S. issued visa.
Readmission Policy
A student who does not attempt any coursework within one year will be required to participate in an abbreviated reapplication process. If readmission is approved, the student will return to the institution under the current academic catalog. To reapply, the student should contact the enrollment department.
As a part of the readmission process, any student who was previously dismissed from the institution must submit a petition for reinstatement to the Provost. The petition will be reviewed by a committee led by the Provost. The Provost’s decision will be final and communicated directly to the petitioning student via Ottawa University email.
The petition should be a formal letter that includes:
-
The circumstances that led to the dismissal.
-
The learning and personal development achieved since the action, indicating the ability to resume successful study at the institution.
-
A detailed action plan to achieve academic success.
-
Any unofficial transcripts from schools attended since the academic dismissal from Ottawa University.
